要約:"The research report of which this is a summary analyses a set of five detailed case studies of individuals representing the new conditions of un/employment. The purpose of the cases is to explain, expand, clarify and develop meanings and theory about the issue of effective communicative practices in new times. The five cases were selected according to the criteria of 'non-standard workers', namely: casualisation and out-sourcing, telecommuting, multiple jobs in which the employee is engaged, the nature and frequency of non-work, and the phenomenon of 'portfolio work'. Because only five people have been involved in this study no attempt can be made to generalise from these five cases. The study provides the research base for understanding in what ways practice and policy might respond to the 'new basics' of literacy and numeracy skills in so-called non-standard un/employment practices. The implications of non-standard working practices for literacy and numeracy policy and practice are suggested." --Executive summary.
