總結: | Holes exist in metallic aircraft structures for either design or construction reasons and their stress concentrating effect is such that they are common regions of fatigue crack initiation. A combined experimental and numerical study has been carried out to examine the influence of thickness on the surface and through-thickness stress distributions of aluminimum alloy specimens with central holes. Thermographic and strain-guarge measurements were made on several thicknesses of specimens, the central holes of which were either reamed of cold-exapnded by 3.6%. The experimental results were compared with those from numerical analyses of the specimens by three-dimensional finite-element modelling. |
